Salzburg Residenz Palace

The Residenz Palace, for centuries a place of royal representation, obtained its present form at the end of the sixteenth century and presents itself as a splendid early barock structure. These buildings were most enduringly shaped by prince-archbishop Wolf Dietrich von Raitenau (1587 - 1612). The Residenz Palace contains about 180 rooms and three large courtyards. The so-called Residenz New Building is situated opposite the Residenz Palace.
